What is in the piece
The record itself sits on the right of the display: a black vinyl pressing of Music To Be Murdered By, signed in silver across the white label. To its left, the album sleeve — the Hitchcock-referencing cover with Eminem in a black suit and homburg, shovel in hand, the title bleeding down in pink and violet.
Underneath the record and the sleeve sit three more panels:
- A live photograph of Eminem on the mic, mid-verse
- A second stage shot in the red hoodie, arm out to the crowd
- A "HELLO, my name is Slim Shady" name tag panel, the motif from the record that made him famous
Between them is a laser-engraved stainless steel plaque reading Personally Signed By Eminem — Slim Shady — Marshall Bruce Mathers III — One of the Best Selling Music Artists of All Time — One of the Greatest and Most Influential Rappers of All Time.
Everything is mounted on black, and the framing is yours to choose — silver or gold aluminium, whichever suits the wall it is going on. The certificate of authenticity sits in a compartment on the back, where it belongs: with the piece, not in an envelope somewhere.
Why this album
Music To Be Murdered By arrived in January 2020 with no announcement at all. No singles, no rollout, no interviews — it simply appeared, and went straight to number one on the Billboard 200, extending one of the longest runs of consecutive chart-topping albums in music history.
The title and the artwork are a straight lift from Alfred Hitchcock's 1958 spoken-word record of the same name, and Hitchcock's voice runs through the album as narrator. It is Eminem doing what he has always done best: taking something from the culture, turning it inside out, and making it unmistakably his.
That is what makes it a good record to own signed. It is not a greatest-hits repackage. It is a late-career album that people actually argue about — and the sleeve is one of the most recognisable images in his catalogue.

A signed photograph is a signature on a picture of the artist. A signed record is a signature on the object itself — the thing that was pressed, sold, played and listened to. For a musician, that is the closer relationship, and it is why signed vinyl tends to hold its interest longer than a print does.
